Vasco are attempting to hijack Boca Juniors’ move for Atlético Nacional attacker Marino Hinestroza, 23. The Brazilian club have tracked him since last year, although talks with Boca are advanced.

The talks were first reported by Argentina’s Splendid AM 990.

Vasco have tabled around US$ 5 million, about R$ 26.8 million, and would leave roughly 20% of the player’s economic rights with Atlético Nacional, with add-ons potentially increasing the fee. The Colombians have responded positively.

Boca had already lined up a deal more than a week ago, for US$ 5 million and 20% of the profit on a future sale.

Boca remain strong contenders and the player’s camp still view the Argentine club as an option. A decision is expected in the coming days.

Vasco want a winger this window to deepen competition, with only Rayan, Andrés Gómez and Nuno Moreira currently in the role. The club sought to move David to Vitória, but talks did not conclude.

Fluminense tried to sign Hinestroza last year after selling Arias to Wolverhampton in England. After last week’s win over Maricá in the opening round of the Carioca, Fernando Diniz said he likes Hinestroza and noted his Libertadores form was easier to follow against Brazilian opponents.
