Vasco training base searched as police act against David | OneFootball

Vasco’s Monday morning return at CT Moacyr Barbosa was overshadowed as civil police searched club facilities in a probe targeting forward David Corrêa. The club said in a statement to ge that it is fully cooperating with the authorities and awaiting the outcome of enquiries.

Officers were executing search and seizure warrants for the forward as part of an interstate drugs and arms investigation led by Espírito Santo’s Civil Police, with support from the 14ª DP, Leblon, and the specialist arms, munitions and explosives unit, Desarme.

The operation began in the early hours at the player’s home in Barra da Tijuca, where he was alone and accompanied the search. Agents seized a mobile phone, computers and documents for forensic analysis.

Police then moved to Jacarepaguá, where technical director Felipe Maestro and football manager Clauber Rocha received them. The pair oversaw an inspection of the forward’s locker, where only boots were found. The player later arrived in his car and left without speaking to the media.

Codenamed A Tropa, the offensive mobilised about 100 civil police, more than 38 vehicles and aircraft across Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, São Paulo, Goiás and the Federal District.

The inquiry is also examining possible links within sport, assessing whether other professional players and football agents have any connection to the targets under investigation.
