Vasco have unveiled a bust honouring Eduardo Santana, the club icon known as Pai Santana, at the museum in São Januário.
According to Globo.com, the unveiling took place on Wednesday. Pai Santana died on one November 2011 from respiratory failure caused by pneumonia, yet chants and large flags in the stands still pay tribute to him.
A masseur, pai de santo and former boxer, Santana joined Vasco in 1953. He also worked at Botafogo, Fluminense, Bahia and with the Brazil national team, though his image is forever tied to São Januário.
He became renowned for doing "trabalhos" in favour of Vasco in important matches in the 1970s, 80s and 90s.
On the 10th anniversary of his death, a compilation of stories from those who knew him closely was published, featuring Romário, Edmundo, Roberto Dinamite, Ricardo Rocha, his relatives and historian Luiz Antônio Simas.
