Vegetti has agreed terms with Cerro Porteño, with a move expected to be finalised soon.
Expresso 1923 first reported that he informed the club of the Paraguayan offer after the game against Maricá, and stated his wish to depart.
Vasco had not previously received any signal from him. Following interviews given by Admar Lopes and Pedrinho during the week, the forward spoke with the board and coaching staff.
Aged 37, he views this as a last chance for a major contract. The offer from Cerro Porteño is for three years, with negotiations conducted directly with the player, who is in the final year of his Vasco deal.
With his likely exit, Vasco will move quickly to formalise the signing of Brenner. The striker is expected in Rio de Janeiro in the coming days as the club’s third addition for 2026.
Vasco will not force him to stay, acknowledging his situation. The Argentine is among the club’s highest earners but spent the second half of 2025 as a substitute.
Vegetti has played 143 times for Vasco, scoring 60 goals. He arrived mid 2023 and was key to preserving Série A status. He topped the club’s scoring charts in 2024 and 2025, finishing last season as Brazil’s leading scorer.
