Vegetti replacement? Why Spinelli interests Vasco | OneFootball

Vasco have turned to Claudio Spinelli as they look to reinforce their attack. The 29-year-old Argentine, who is with Independiente Del Valle, caught the eye in last year's Copa Sudamericana. Del Valle eliminated Vasco from the competition in 2025.

According to Globo.com, centre forward is a market priority after the departures of Rayan and Vegetti. Brenner has been signed as first choice, but a bench role remains open, currently filled by GB.

The hierarchy want a profile similar to Vegetti, a penalty-box presence, combative and strong in the air, to complement the squad. Spinelli is viewed as a major market opportunity and is considered affordable by Brazilian standards in wages and for a permanent transfer.

Though a reference point up front, Spinelli stands out for his physicality. He is considered able to contest every ball, press without the ball and unsettle defences.

Seeking intensity and fitness is a key theme for Vasco this season. Spinelli is also rated as a potential asset in the club's cup campaigns this year, especially the Sudamericana. Pedrinho and Felipe believe the squad needs more of this profile for knockout football.

Spinelli is 1.80m tall with a strong leap. He delivered his best season last year at Del Valle with 28 goals in 50 games. That included four in six in the Libertadores and four in eight in the Sudamericana, two of them against Vasco.
