Raphael Veiga has given the green light for Palmeiras and his representatives to advance talks with América of Mexico.

According to Globo.com, the midfielder has been briefed on the offer and views a move to a new market favourably. América’s initial proposal is a loan with an option to buy, which could become an obligation if targets are met. Financial details remain undisclosed but are satisfactory to Palmeiras and the player.

At 30, Veiga no longer has a clear route to Europe due to his age, so Mexico is seen as a viable step. In 2024, an offer from Al Ettifaq of Saudi Arabia was promptly rejected.

Any deal still depends on Palmeiras and América agreeing the final package and the performance clauses to be included.

Palmeiras have not resisted recent departures when senior figures wish to move on, with Weverton allowed to join Grêmio permanently without compensation.

With Veiga’s approval and a first official offer sent to his camp, negotiations are expected to intensify in the coming days. He remains available to Abel and is in the squad for Wednesday’s Brasileirão match against Atlético-MG.
