Venezia sign Basic on free transfer from Lazio

Venezia have announced the signing of Toma Basic on a free transfer from Lazio.

The club said in a statement that the 29-year-old Croatia international is their first addition for next season. The Lagunari topped Serie B and celebrated promotion with a boat parade through the canals.

Basic was allowed to depart with no renewal offered and his deal expiring on June 30. He has agreed terms to June 2029, with an automatic extension if set conditions are met.

He arrived at Lazio in 2021 from Girondins de Bordeaux, spending the period there aside from a six-month loan with their sister club Salernitana in 2024.

This season he made 26 appearances in all competitions, scoring two and assisting three across Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

Basic now remains in the top flight, this time in Venezia colours.
