Venezia goalkeeper Filip Stankovic is dreaming of one day playing for Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They note that the 22-year-old will have the chance to impress against the Nerazzurri this weekend.
Inter will meet a familiar face in the form of Stankovic this Sunday.
The Serb is actually technically still an Inter player. He is on loan with Venezia, having joined during the summer.
Stankovic has never actually made an appearance for the Inter first team, though he starred for the Primavera side.
Stankovic may technically still be an Inter player. But there is little doubt that Venezia will sign him at the end of this season.
The Venetians have a purchase option to sign Stankovic for €2 million, plus a 50% sell-on fee.
And the Serb’s form this season makes it almost a foregone conclusion that they will activate it.
If Venezia are to stay up this season, they will owe a lot of it to Stankovic’s saves.
The 22-year-old has had a decisive impact in recent wins over Cagliari and Empoli.
Meanwhile, Stankovic impressed with a penalty save against Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku, even if Venezia eventually lost that match.
Therefore, the Lagunari will certainly want to keep hold of Stankovic by signing him on a permanent basis.
But Stankovic does not want to play for Venezia forever. He wants to join a bigger club eventually.
And at the top of the Serb’s list would be returning to Inter to have a prominent role.
