Despite a blistering start to life in the third division of French football, sitting second in the National 1 – Versailles have decided to part ways with manager Youssef Chibhi over ‘off-pitch matters’. The official statement said that he has been given a precautionary lay-off, and that assistant coach Vincent Ehouman will take charge for their next match against Stade-Briochin on 11th November.
The club decided not to comment on the particular reasons for Chibhi’s departure, but it follows disturbing reports made by Le Parisien in the summer that the FC Versailles manager was suspected of filming women without their consent. Notably this concerned a young women he employed as his cat sitter who was 15-years old, as well as other recordings existing, concerning a girl of an even younger age: he is a suspect in an investigation over alleged “invasion of privacy” and “recording of pornographic images of a minor under 15.”
Chibhi was the mastermind behind last year’s Coupe de France run which ended up in the semi-final stage, where they were eventually knocked out by Christophe Galtier’s OGC Nice.
