FC Bayern is facing UEFA disciplinary proceedings following the emotional celebrations in the Champions League clash against Real Madrid. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has now provided an update on the current situation – and speaks openly of a complicated situation
After the 4:3 win against the Whites, numerous fans flocked to the stands to celebrate with the players, injuring several photographers in the process – an incident that is now being investigated by both UEFA and the criminal investigation department
„We are still investigating this incident,“ explained Dreesen after the Bundesliga match against VfB Stuttgart, adding that it is still unclear how many people were actually injured
UEFA is accusing the record champions of „disruption by spectators“, „blocking public routes“ and „throwing objects“, among other things. A police investigation is also underway, including an appeal for witnesses

Despite the accusations, Dreesen defended his own supporters. „I didn’t have the feeling that it was an aggressive, malicious action on the part of the fans,“ emphasized the 58-year-old. Rather, the situation arose from the extraordinary emotionality of the match
„With the score at 4-3, the stadium shook and the euphoria was overflowing,“ said Dreesen, adding that it was almost impossible for the stewards to intervene at that moment: „When so many people climb over a fence at once, no steward in the world can stop them.“
The situation is also explosive because FC Bayern has already attracted attention this season for fan misconduct, with the south curve already on probation following pyrotechnics incidents
In the worst case scenario, further sanctions could now be imposed – possibly even restrictions for the semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain
Despite the ongoing investigations, the focus at Säbener Straße remains on the sporting side of things. After winning their 35th championship, Munich are dreaming of the treble
But the shadow of the Real game remains. „We’ll see how UEFA deals with it,“ Dreesen concluded – and summed up the situation: „It’s a very difficult situation.“
