Eric Dier has spoken again about his time at FC Bayern. The defender, who is currently under contract with AS Monaco, talks about his special connection to the German record champions.

Following his departure from Munich last summer, Dier continues to follow the development of his former club closely. Speaking to fcbayern.com, the 31-year-old explained: „I definitely follow them. Any club you have a connection with, you automatically continue to follow. It’s the same with all my former clubs – and Bayern will always be a very special place for me. I also still speak to friends there and a lot of staff. I hope to be back in Munich soon to watch a game or visit Säbener Straße.“

Contact with his former teammates has not been lost either. Dier revealed: „I talk to Harry, Serge and Josh the most – Konny Laimer too. Many players congratulated me after my penalty; Leon wrote me a nice message. I’ve also spoken to Rapha Guerreiro. So I’m still in touch with a lot of players.“

The fact that the centre-back continues to follow events at the Isar closely is also reflected in his assessment of the current season: „It’s still early in the season, but FC Bayern have the team, the coach and the structure to achieve all their goals. In the end, a lot depends on how fit the squad remains – and you also need a bit of luck. I hope they have a very successful season.“

Back in September, shortly after his move to the principality, Dier had already emphasized how positively he looks back on his time in Munich. At the time, he said: „I’m someone who can adapt very quickly to new surroundings, just like back in Germany.“ For the Englishman, his stay in Bavaria was more than just a sporting chapter – life in the city itself was also „very special“ for him and his family.

The 31-year-old is currently struggling with health setbacks. He has only appeared in six of the first 15 league games for Monaco this season. He has been absent since the beginning of October due to injury, with his last appearance dating back to October 5 in the home game against OGC Nice.
