Kicker reports that VfB Stuttgart are closing in on completing the signing of Hoffenheim midfielder Angelo Stiller as the two clubs are close to agreeing on a fee.
It had previously been reported that Stiller could cost Stuttgart around €10m which was seen as too expensive. The new fee for the 22-year-old is likely to be a high single-digit million fee as Stiller still has two years left on his Hoffenheim contract.
Stiller considers the move to Stuttgart attractive as it means he will be a key leader in the team’s midfield under his former boss at Bayern Munich and Hoffenheim, Sebastian Hoeneß. The 22-year-old will be used to fill the gap left by Wataru Endo who departed for Liverpool last week.
The loss of Stiller will not have a big impact on Hoffenheim as they are well-stocked in players who can adapt to play the 22-year-old’s position as well as with out-and-out midfielders.
