Sky Germany reports that VfB Stuttgart are targeting Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Garcia for a move in the winter.

In the summer, Stuttgart had tried to complete the signing of Genk striker Hyeon-Gyu Oh, but the move collapsed right at the end of the window. Since then, the Swabians have struggled in the number nine position due to injuries to both Deniz Undav and Ermedin Demirovic in the early stages of the season.

That is why they are interested in Madrid’s Garcia. However, a move will be difficult to pull off as the LaLiga side are only interested in loaning out the striker, while if they were open to a permanent move, it could prove to be expensive.

This has meant Stuttgart have also looked at alternatives, and one of those is Racing Santander striker Jeremy ArevaloSky also reports that there have been talks with the Ecuadorian, but he will demand a high signing-on fee and salary, while Stuttgart could also face competition from Strasbourg in Ligue 1.

What could work in Stuttgart’s favour when pursuing Garcia:

When it comes to convincing Madrid to part ways permanently with the 21-year-old, is the deal related to Chema Andres, who joined from the Spanish giants in the summer.

The midfielder joined for €3m in July and has quickly established himself as the number one partner for Angelo Stiller in the Stuttgart midfield. The deal is said to include a dynamic buy-back clause, which will increase each summer
