VfL Bochum have suspended striker Lys Mousset and are now looking at terminating his contract, according to Kicker.
Mousset joined Bochum last summer from Sheffield United. The now 26-year-old came with a bundle of experience with 99 Premier Leagues appearances for both Sheffield and AFC Bournemouth.
However, that is where the positives end for Bochum. The Frenchman is set to play a single game for the club and looks like he never will. Having already been fined several times for attitude and lateness, the forward was once again late to training at Bochum’s training camp in Andalusia.
Club management has decided that this is the last straw and have opted to send the player home and suspend him for the time being. Sporting director Patrick Fabian explains: “We kept giving him a chance, now there’s no point.”
Mousset will continue to train on his own in Germany this week as the question of contract termination is being discussed. Fabian sums the situation up by saying: “It’s pretty disappointing because we obviously had a lot of hopes for him in terms of sport. At some point, however, the time has come when we have to protect the group as a whole.”
