VfL Wolfsburg unveil signing of Holstein Kiel's Bernhardsson | OneFootball

VfL Wolfsburg have secured the services of Swedish international Alexander Bernhardsson for the upcoming 2.Bundesliga season.

The 27-year-old joins from fellow second-division rivals Holstein Kiel and has signed a contract until 30 June, 2029.

In January 2024, the attacking midfielder made his first move abroad, transferring from six-time Swedish champions IF Elfsborg to Holstein Kiel.

Bernhardsson made a total of 57 appearances for Kiel, including 19 in the Bundesliga, scoring 15 goals and providing 14 assists overall.

"Alexander is versatile in attack and brings promising qualities with his speed, strong acceleration, and agility.

"He's particularly difficult to defend in one-on-one situations and can consistently cause problems.

"As a left-footer, he also gives our attacking play new possibilities. In the first two games of the season for Kiel, he already demonstrated his strength as a playmaker.

"We are therefore very pleased that he chose VfL despite strong competition," said Sporting Director Pirmin Schwegler.
