Victor Boniface’s AC Milan loan deal threatens to collapse

Kicker reports that Victor Boniface’s loan out to AC Milan is threatening to collapse. The Bayer Leverkusen professional is scheduled for another round of medicals at the San Siro on Saturday. Milan wish to take no chances with the Nigerian striker due to his history with injury. Everything between the Bundesliga and Serie A clubs has been fully negotiated. All that remains is for Boniface to secure a clean bill-of-health.

Boniface is set to join Milan on loan with a €25m purchase option. The potential purchase can rise as high as €30m with bonuses. Leverkusen are also set to secure a €5m loan fee as part of the deal. Boniface has never failed to prove himself when fit, but also suffered several ligament tears over the course of his career.

Boniface has scored 22 German top flight goals during his two years in Leverkusen, yet also missed 26 league fixtures with injury. The 24-year-old had his injury issues prior to joining the German outfit as well, battling back from two ACL tears during his time at Norway’s Bodø/Glimt.

Boniface’s injury-prone nature has derailed a number of potential transfers over the years. Most recently, a potential move to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr broke down due to such issues last January. Boniface remains under contract with Leverkusen until 2028.
