Lewandowski is in to the final year of his contract with the reigning champions of Spain and reportedly talks for a renewal have cooled in recent weeks as sporting director Deco weighs up the club’s options.

The Poland international, 37, is said to have informed Barca of his desire to stay at Barcelona, but his age and injury record means it’s not a guarantee he will be offered a new deal.

With that said, reports in Turkey claim Fenerbahce plan to open talks with Lewandowski in January for a pre-contract agreement, allowing him to join on a free transfer on a two-year deal next summer.

In addition, the experienced striker is said to be expecting proposals from Saudi Arabia but would prefer to continue his career in Europe or move to the United States if he was to leave Barca.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, Victor Osimhen is Barca’s preferred option in the event Lewandowski leaves.

Osimhen has been in superb form for club and country this season, netting six goals in just nine appearances for Galatasaray - including the winner against Liverpool in the Champions League last month.

After an impressive loan spell during the 2024-25 campaign, Osimhen joined Gala on a permanent transfer in the summer for a reported fee of €75million (£66million), signing a long-term deal until 2029.

Reports in Spain suggest the 26-year-old’s high valuation would make any deal financially difficult for Barcelona to complete.

Therefore the club would rely on a strategy occasionally used in past transfer negotiations whereby Osimhen would have to express his desire for a change of club.

Elsewhere, another option for Barca is said to be Levante striker Karl Etta-Eyong, who has also attracted the attention of several European clubs with his impressive performances this season.

The 22-year-old has scored six goals and weighed in with three assists in 10 LaLiga appearances so far, including scoring against Real Madrid.
