Pepe Reina left the field for the final time to a standing ovation from Como and Inter fans, despite the fact his career ended with a red card, as his daughter watched on in tears.
The goalkeeper announced this week that he would be retiring at the end of the season, with his contract at Como coming to an end on June 30.
He came rushing outside the penalty area to make a sliding tackle on Mehdi Taremi, but failed to make any contact with the ball, catching the Inter striker’s foot with his studs.
Following the VAR On-Field Review, a decision was made to show the straight red card for preventing a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

Reina will turn 43 in August and he walked off the pitch for the final time to a standing ovation from the fans of both Como and Inter, as well as teammates and opponents.
It was not quite what he had envisaged, nor did his daughter, who was spotted in floods of tears watching from the stands.
Having played for Barcelona, Villarreal, Liverpool, Napoli, Bayern Munich, Milan, Aston Villa, Lazio and Como, Reina ends his career with 297 Premier League appearances, 202 in Serie A, 163 in LaLiga and many more in European competition.
