Chelsea have the lead against Cardiff! The Blues were really poor in the first half but they made two changes at half time and had to go up a gear in this second period.
They already have their reward. It didn’t take long for the introduction of some first team quality to raise the team’s level.

Cardiff have been unbelievably impressive in this game, but their approach was always going to come with risks against a team from two divisions above.
Finally they made a mistake and they were ruthlessly punished by Chelsea. Dylan Lawlor’s pass was cut out by Facundo Buonanotte, who was lucky to not be hauled off at half time. He played in the newly arrived Alejandro Garnacho, who was racing down the left as Chelsea suddenly found themselves with a 3 on 2 in attack.
Garnacho had two choices to square to, but took the shot on himself and scored with a nice finish.

This game is far from over – Cardiff have been the better side, bar this one mistake, and even with new players on Chelsea don’t look comfortable. The home team are going to have to push out more and leave space behind, and we need a second goal to make sure we win this game.
Chelsea’s team selection tonight was bound to create some questions as it saw full rotation from Enzo Maresca once again. However, it doesn’t seem to be hurting them too much.
Enzo Maresca’s outburst over the weekend was extraordinary, and one of the big conclusions from it is that the manager may be pushing to leave next year.
