Exactly one week after the chaotic CAN 2025 final, another towel-related controversy has broken out in Morocco.

A week after the CAN 2025 final between Morocco and Senegal, the towel saga is making headlines again in Morocco. This time, during the CAF Confederation Cup clash between Wydad Casablanca and Maniema Union, stewards at the Mohammed V Stadium attempted to seize the towels belonging to the Congolese side. The move left Maniema Union's bench both baffled and irritated.

The scenario is a strong reminder of what Édouard Mendy experienced during the CAN 2025 final, when he was repeatedly disrupted by attempts to confiscate his towel—so much so that his teammate Yehvann Diouf had to play the role of an impromptu bodyguard.
