That was the last action on that particular surface as last week work began on creating a new pitch for next season which will begin at Paradise on Saturday 19 July when former Celtic managerial candidate Eddie Howe brings his League Cup winning Newcastle United side North of the border to play the finest team in Scotland. Aye we’re still head and shoulders above the rest despite yesterday’s frustrations at Hampden.

By Friday, on the eve of the Scottish Cup Final, the grass was gone (not the bloke who has been leaking team sheets this season, the green stuff) and Paradise was looking very different to last weekend. Clearly a lot less green as the turf was gone and as preparation gets underway to create a surface that can perhaps rival theRangers whose Ibrox surface won the highly coveted (by them anyway) Pitch of the Season Award.
Maybe they will need some Mr Sheen after all to polish that?

Anyway on Friday our match-day photographer Geo put his drone up over Paradise to have a look and to give us an aerial view of Celtic Park and Barrowfield. As you can see the work is well underway but at the moment it’s not quite the dear green place that we all call Paradise.
But have no fear about that remaining the case as the Celtic ground-staff eye that new trophy that even they didn’t know existed! If they win it next season it will be the first time it’s been in Paradise. Maybe the Glasgow City Council will let us have a street party to celebrate?
And just along London Road we had a look above the Celtic training ground, once used by the Lisbon Lions and the grass is gone there too as work is done for the new season for the Academy players and the Celtic FC Women’s team.
The new Barrowfield training centre, which opens this summer, is also looking magnificent from above.
