The first 45 minutes of the UEFA Champions League final couldn’t have gone worse for Paris Saint-Germain.

The reigning champions went down 1-0 to Arsenal in the sixth minute after Kai Havertz scored a sensational goal over Matvey Safonov.  The rest of the first half was a defensive clinic from Arsenal. They put their whole team behind the ball and showed why they were the best defensive team this season in the Champions League.

However, PSG would not be denied. In the 61st minute, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was brought down in the box by Cristhian Mosquera, who was already on a yellow card. After a VAR check, PSG was awarded the penalty. Now, if you have been following PSG this season, you’ll know that they’ve struggled with converting penalties, but Ousmane Dembélé left no doubt on the equalizer.

PSG is looking to win back-to-back titles while Arsenal have yet to hoist the most coveted trophy in club football. The goal will likely force Arsenal out from their defensive low blow and the game could open up in favor of PSG.
