Chelsea have taken the lead against Djurgarden in Stockholm!

The Blues have started this game well despite the intense home atmosphere and the plastic pitch, and Enzo Maresca’s team have their reward already.

Tosin Adarabioyo has already played some superb passes forward to find attackers in space, and he did it perfectly here. He found the move that Enzo Fernandez made between the lines, and it was then down to the Argentine to make the goal.

He could see Jadon Sancho is acres of space down the left, but had to dig the ball out from under his feet to catch the winger in stride. It’s what Enzo is best at, and he played it perfectly to Sancho.

The winger didn’t take a good touch, and bobbled the ball between his feet a bit, but the hesitance of the opposition defence meant he had plenty of time to hit a shot, which went in off a defender in slightly comical fashion.

Well, they all count…

This was just what Chelsea needed given the intense atmosphere at the 3Arena. This is a huge game for the home team and they created quite the ambience.

But Enzo Maresca said before kick off that it was all about starting the game well, and there’s no doubting his boys in Blue did that. There’s a long way to go over the two legs of this tie, but from what we’ve seen so far, it should be easy to rack up a few more.

It should also create the chance to rest a few players later in the game and in the second leg, if we can build up a healthy lead here.
