Chelsea defender Levi Colwill made his first start of the season today against Liverpool after recovering from an ACL injury, and the academy product spoke post game after he put in a superb performance.

Colwill on long road to recovery

Speaking to Chelsea TV, the defender first dealt with the game today:

“We deserved three points, but that’s the way football goes. Defensively we were immense… the whole team defended together.”

He was then asked how he had felt coming back to play after so long out:

“Before the game I had no nerves, I was just excited, walking on the pitch it was like all the long term and the hard work [paid off].”

He made sure to give credit to all those who had helped him through this long, difficult period:

“It’s been really tough… the staff, I couldn’t have asked for anything better… it’s all down to the staff, the physios, I can’t give them enough flowers.”
