Manchester United loanee Antony opened his goalscoring account for Real Betis during their Saturday La Liga meeting with Celta Vigo.
Antony left United during the winter transfer window to temporarily join Betis after failing to break into Ruben Amorim’s plans.
Things got off to a good start for Antony, who was named Player of the Match on his debut and was handed the La Liga MVP award.
On his debut vs. Athletic Bilbao, Antony played a key role in Betis’ opener. He fired a curling shot at Unai Simon, who stopped it but could only spill the ball into the path of a lurking Isco. Isco made no mistake from close range to tap the ball into the back of the net.
Antony has now scored his first goal for Betis.
He broke the deadlock for the side just 11 minutes into their clash against Celta Vigo at Estadio de Balaídos. The Brazilian found himself unmarked as he latched onto a cut-back, smoothly shifting the ball onto his left foot before curling it into the bottom corner.
Antony hugged his Betis teammates in celebration before falling to his knees and pointing to the sky.
The 24-year-old has now scored as many league goals in two matches for Real Betis as he has for United across the last two seasons (37 games).
His strike against Betis is his first league goal since 27th April 2024 vs. Burnley, who were relegated to England’s second division.
By the time Betis and Celta Vigo were heading down the break, the visitors were 2-0 up. Diego Llorente doubled their advantage just 12 minutes after Antony shed first blood.
Antony recently opened the door to a potential permanent switch to Betis and he is certainly playing like a man determined to make it happen.
