(Video): Massive Chelsea starlet shows his dominance in domestic league once again

We’ve covered Chelsea’s frustrating Saturday night draw with Brentford to death, so how about something new. Our sister club Strasbourg beat Le Havre 1-0 on Sunday, and star of the show was defender Mamadou Sarr, on loan from the Blues to their affiliate.

His highlight reel from the game is really impressive. He’s quick, strong, composed in his own box and good on the ball. Still just 20, it’s impressive work to keep a clean sheet and set his team up to win the game with a late penalty.

His physical stature is also very notable in these clips – he towers above most around him.

Sarr’s stats from the game show just what the highlights do. A really composed performance from a player who plays like a veteran despite his tender years. He made 5 clearances and played passes witha superb 94.7% accuracy – including one “key pass” to set up a chance which you can see in the clip above.

Strasbourg already showing they can live up to last season’s hype

We were a little worried about Strasbourg this season. They lost so many important players in the summer, and already had an unmatchable campaign last year to live up to.

Clearly getting a key piece like Sarr back was an important part of keeping that momentum from last season, and it’s a decision which so far looks very smart for his development and for the club. You can see why Chelsea weren’t keep to buy another player in that position in the summer.

Just like Chelsea, Strasbourg’s European campaign starts this week – it will be very interesting to see how both sides cope with that.
