Chelsea lead 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium!

The Blues have been far better through this game, and it was just their play in the final third that was letting them down. At last, they’ve got the breakthrough and a reward for their good play so far.

Joao Pedro scored the goal, and it was a nice finish on the half turn, but this goal was all about Moises Caicedo. The midfielder won 3 50/50 challenges in a row, one in the middle of the pitch, one on the edge of the box and one with the last defender to set JP up.

What a machine.  Where would we be without him?

“Joao Pedro couldn’t miss. It was put on a plate with only Vicario to beat and the goal gaping,” Rob Green said on 5 Live.

“It was all the tenacity and defensive knowhow from Caicedo. Tottenham get caught, not once, but twice. It’s been a scrappy, tenacious opening and that’s a gift from Tottenham to Chelsea.”

There’s a long way to go in this game – don’t forget Spurs were 2-0 up against us last season and still lost – but we’re nicely set up for the second half now. We’re all over them, and our shape is giving us a huge advantage here.
