Davide Nicola has arrived on Sardinia and is ready to begin work with his new club Cagliari ahead of the 2024-25 Serie A campaign.
The ex-Empoli, Salernitana and Genoa coach was given a rapturous reception from supporters who had gathered at the airport to welcome him onboard.
The experienced Serie A tactician agreed to Cagliari’s proposal several weeks ago, but he was unable to be unveiled until he officially terminated his contract with his previous club, Empoli.
Cagliari confirmed on Friday that Nicola has penned an initial two year deal, running until the summer of 2026. There is also an option for a further year on top of that,
The 51-year-old comes in as successor to local former Premier League winner Claudio Ranieri, who took Cagliari up from Serie B in 2022-23, before guiding his beloved club to survival in the most recent campaign.
