Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has offered his thoughts on why Ben Davies could be a smart signing for the club.

Davies is reportedly set to be confirmed as a Liverpool player after the club agreed a £1.6m deal with Championship side Preston North End for his signature over the weekend. His contract at Preston was due to expire at the end of the season, leading to a bargain deal for the Reds.

Warnock has spotted the calmness Davies has in his defending along with his ability to play out from the back as key factors in the deal, concluding that he could be a positive addition to Liverpool’s squad upon his arrival.

He reels off several examples of excellent long passes Davies pulled off for Preston, pointing out that the likes of Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson could benefit from running onto his switches of play.

Sky Sports News shared the clip on Twitter, with Warnock going through multiple highlights of Davies in action and explaining what makes him so impressive.
