Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins has revealed Chelsea legend Thiago Silva is the toughest opponent he’s faced in his career.

Watkins had a brilliant campaign for Villa last time out as they secured a top four finish under Unai Emery, with the England international finishing the season with the most assists in the League.

The 28-year-old scored the winning goal for England in the semi final of Euro 2024 and in a recent interview with Sky Sports he revealed who his toughest opponent was.

Watkins has come up against some of the best defenders in the game during his career but he singled out Blues legend Silva as the toughest he’s come up against.

Silva’s four year spell at Stamford Bridge came to an emotional end this summer but what he did for the club and his performance levels won’t be forgotten and he will always have a special place in Chelsea’s history.

Watkins admitted that it felt like Silva was always one step ahead of him and chose the Brazil legend ahead of the likes of Ruben Dias and Virgil van Dijk.
