Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior continues to face difficult moments in Europe as Real Madrid hosted Benfica on Wednesday evening in Champions League.

The match took place at the Santiago Bernabeu, in second leg of the round of 16 playoff. According to Spanish newspaper Marca, sections of Benfica supporters whistled Vinicius every time he touched the ball.

Focus remains on qualification

Despite the off-field controversy, Real Madrid entered second leg holding a narrow advantage thanks to Vinicius’ goal in Lisbon.

The Spanish side aimed to complete the job at home and secure their place in Champions League round of 16.

Vinicius, once again at the center of attention continued to play a key role for Madrid as they chased qualification under intense scrutiny.
