Chelsea beat Real Sociedad in the last friendly before the season starts, with a much improved second period and some good debuts.

Chelsea beat Real Sociedad 3-1 in their final friendly before the season starts.

The Blues, with new players in the mix, looked a little slow and sluggish early on despite a strong team on the pitch. They did get a goal for one of the new men – Morgan Rogers scored after Joao Pedro’s header was saved.

Apart from that Chelsea weren’t sharp in the first period, and Real Sociedad equalised with a superb goal before half time.

That raised the home team’s level, and Joao Pedro scored twice, once from a Reece James clipped cross, and once from Malo Gusto’s superb driven through ball.

It wasn’t an amazing performance, but it did get us very excited for Joao Pedro to start this season. He looks motivated, fresh, and playing in a team which should make a lot of chances. He got 15 Premier League goals last season, and should be aiming for 20 now.
