Vieira ‘to stay’ at HSV as Arsenal ‘to lower’ price

According to Hamburger Abendblatt, Fábio Vieira has decided to play for Hamburger SV again next season, but a deal with Arsenal is still required to make the move permanent.

HSV’s €22 million purchase option has expired after the club were either unwilling to pay it or unable to trigger it.

Arsenal now appear open to a reduced sale, reportedly a €10-15 million package. The Bundesliga club are unwilling to invest more than a single-digit million euro sum for the Portuguese playmaker.

Hamburg will weigh how far they are prepared to stretch for one player with one year left on his contract.

Vieira delivered seven goals and six assists on loan last season.

If an agreement is reached, a four-year contract is lined up for Vieira.
