Cercle Brugge face Víkingur Reykjavík in their second match of the Conference League on Thursday evening. In their opening game of the competition the Belgian side put six goals past St Gallen to win 6-2. They go into their second clash having left a handful of key players at home. The experienced Hannes Van der Bruggen, Alan Minda and Christiaan Ravych will all remain in Belgium. Given the sides poor start to the domestic season, they are likely being saved for the sides clash with Union St Gilloise at the weekend.
Their Icelandic opponents are neck and neck with Breidablik in the Icelandic top flight as they go for the title. The sides play each other on Sunday in a championship deciding clash. Their opening game of the Conference League was against Omonia Nicosia of Cyprus, who they lost 4-0 to away from home. This is the first time that they have reached the group stages of a European competition, albeit now as a fully fledged league phase.
