The visitors had looked set to leave Villa Park with a hard-earned point after Leandro Trossard cancelled out the opener from Matty Cash, but Emi Buendia struck in the dying seconds to steal all the points.
Speaking after the match, Gyokeres reflected on both the disappointment inside the dressing room and the need to move quickly beyond it. “We are of course disappointed with the result,” the Swedish striker said.
“It’s not a great feeling right now, but it’s only December and there are a lot of games to play.
“You can always find some positives, but it’s still a very difficult way to lose a football game. It’s tough right now, but we’ll look forward to the next one soon.”

Despite Villa’s formidable home record, with just one defeat in their previous 25 league matches at Villa Park, Arsenal carved out numerous openings in a frantic contest. Emiliano Martinez was forced into nine saves as the visitors pressed relentlessly for a second goal that never came.
Gyokeres insisted that Arsenal’s shot volume and chance creation offer encouragement going into the next run of fixtures, even if the outcome was frustrating. “We have to keep creating chances and get shots on goal because then you’ll eventually score more goals,” he said.
“So yes, that’s of course a positive and we just need to do things in between also a bit better.
“It’s football. If you score in the last few seconds or minutes, that is an unbelievable feeling, so it goes both ways. Today, unfortunately, it was the other way. It’s tough, but you learn from it.
“If we focus on what we can control and do in our favour and focus on the next game, we’ll be better, I think.”
Next up for Arsenal is the Champions League with a chance to rest some exhausted legs against Club Brugge before welcoming Wolves and their two points to the Emirates.
