Aston Villa held on to beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 at Villa Park to boost their Champions League hopes.
Villa got off to a flying start when Morgan Rogers scored a fantastic goal in the 13th minute, controlling Youri Tielemans’ ball over the Forest defence before coolly sliding it past goalkeeper Matz Sels.
The home fans barely had time to settle when Donyell Malen made it 2-0 just two minutes later, tapping in a perfect cross from Ian Maatsen.
But the visitors came back strong in the second half, and managed to pulled one back in the 57th minute when Jota Silva latched onto the ball and calmly slotted it past Emiliano Martínez.
Nuno Espirito Santo's side created a number of chances to level things up, but Villa stood firm and held on for the win.
The result extended Villa’s winning streak to eight games in all competitions, lifting them to sixth in the league with 51 points—just six behind third-placed Forest.
