Villarreal are in Pamplona after a revised travel plan ahead of Saturday’s game against Osasuna.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the squad arrived back from Leverkusen after 05.00 on Thursday, and Marcelino pushed Friday’s training and the flight to the evening to give the players extra rest.

They departed Valencia Airport at 19.45 and landed around 21.00. The team are staying at the Hotel NH Pamplona Iruña Park, roughly two kilometres from the Old Town.

Friday’s session featured a guard of honour for Alex Freeman on his first day, and for Pau Navarro, who has stepped up and is now registered with the first team. Freeman is in the squad and his transfer came through before take-off, so he could debut.

Alfon Rodríguez will not be involved after working in the gym on Friday. Thomas also misses out with a pubis problem.

Juan Foyth, recently operated on his Achilles tendon, watched training on crutches as he begins rehabilitation. With preparations complete, Villarreal now focus on an important fixture in the Champions League race.
