Villarreal made it five consecutive LaLiga home victories by beating Celta de Vigo 2-1 at the Estadio de la Cerámica, their first such league sequence since 2016/17.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, their home form has underpinned an impressive 2025/26 league campaign, with Marcelino García Toral overseeing historic records for both himself and the club.

The hosts struck inside the first minute, Gerard Moreno converting a penalty. Nicolas Pepe doubled the lead on 29 minutes. Borja Iglesias pulled one back from the spot after the break, but Villarreal managed the finale to secure the points.

The run began on nine February with a 4-1 win over Espanyol. Valencia were beaten 2-1, then Elche 2-1 and Real Sociedad 3-1, before Celta completed the five. The variety of scorelines has come with growing reliability at home.

The last comparable sequence arrived at the start of 2016/17, when Villarreal defeated Real Sociedad 2-1, Osasuna 3-1, Celta 5-0, Las Palmas 2-1 and Betis 2-0 in successive home league matches.

The streak could extend. Villarreal still welcome Levante, Sevilla and Atlético de Madrid. If they win all three, they would match their best top-flight home run, eight consecutive victories set in 2014/15.
