Villarreal have begun their search for a new goalkeeper, having agreed a deal to sell Filip Jorgensen to Chelsea for a reported fee of €24.5m. In these early stages, they have established their leading target to be Alvaro Valles, who will be leaving Las Palmas at some stage in the next 12 months.
Valles is refusing to sign a new contract, and given that his current deal ends next summer, a transfer is being sought by Las Palmas. They’ve already tried to ship him off to Marseille, having accepted a €10m offer, but that was rejected by the player himself.
Valles has done this again with the Villarreal interest. As reported by La Provincia (via ED), he’s rejected the chance to join Marcelino Garcia Toral’s side, as he only wants to re-join Real Betis.
Betis are also keen to get a deal done, but they have not moved from their €5m valuation. Las Palmas want double, so an impasse is currently in play. Valles is prepared to spend the season out of the squad in order to secure his return to the Benito Villamarin – this is bad news for Villarreal, as they must now consider other targets.
