At 35 years of age, Villarreal midfielder Dani Parejo is still going strong in the Spanish top flight and is coming very close to accomplishing a handful of milestones which cement his place as a Spanish football legend.
Currently in his fifth season at The Yellow Submarine, Parejo has become one of the club’s veterans, which is shown in his appearance tally at the club.
As pointed out by Mundo Deportivo, the midfielder is set to play his 200th game for Villarreal when they face Real Madrid at the Bernabéu.
Additionally, the Madrid native is only two matches away from 500 total appearances in the Spanish top-flight, having also played for Valencia, Getafe and Real Madrid.
This accomplishment has him currently placed at number 15 in the all-time appearance list for La Liga, just behind Atlético Madrid star Antoine Griezmann, who is sat on 500 appearances.
With one Europa League title and a Copa del Rey win, he might not have had a career filled with silverware, but his contributions to Spanish football can’t be underestimated.
With 79 goals across all his appearances in La Liga, it is indisputable that Parejo is one of the league’s all-time legends.
