According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Villarreal’s player ratings against Real Sociedad spotlight standout displays from Gerard Moreno, Mikautadze and Nico Pepe, with the latter scoring the 3-0.

Luiz Júnior had a largely calm outing, saving a one-on-one, but misjudged his rush for the 3-1, a mix-up also involving Renato Veiga. Mouriño was firm at the back and dangerous when he advanced, while academy product Pau Navarro excelled in the air and in build-up.

Santi Comesaña was the engine in midfield, setting up the 1-0 with a deft back-heel. Pape Gueye impressed with intensity, and Alberto Moleiro threatened from the left and merited a goal.

Pepe was a class act, constantly beating his man, and struck the 3-0, also involved in two other clear chances. Gerard Moreno marked his return to the starting side with a goal and a display of attacking craft. Mikautadze was sharp for the team, adding a goal and an assist.

Navarro, Comesaña, Pepe, Gerard and Mikautadze were all rated eight, Mouriño and Moleiro seven, while Luiz Júnior, Veiga and Alfonso Pedraza received six. From the bench, Buchanan was incisive, Alfon González active, Oluwaseyi quick, Dani Parejo talented, and Thomas added energy.
