On Wednesday, Villarreal are in La Liga action against Rayo Vallecano, as they play the match that was postponed at the start of November because of the devastation that Storm DANA caused in the Valencia community. Avoiding defeat would see the Yellow Submarine go above Mallorca into 5th place, although a win would allow them to keep pace with Athletic Club in the final Champions League place.
However, it won’t be easy for Villarreal to win at La Ceramica as they are without a number of first team players. The likes of Diego Conde and Logan Costa are injured, while Alex Baena, Dani Parejo and Kiko Femenia are all suspended after picking up yellow card suspensions during the weekend defeat to Real Betis.
The good news for head coach Marcelino Garcia Toral is that Juan Foyth is back in the squad for the first time in December 2023.
Foyth has suffered serious knee and shoulder injuries over the last 12 months, but he is back. It is great news for Villarreal, although he will need a lot of time to get back up to speed.
