A leading member of the attacking ranks at Villarreal has proven himself by some distance the standout creator in La Liga across the season to date.

The player in question? Álex Baena.

Versatile wide-man Baena has of course long been making a name for himself as one of the standout talents in all of Spanish football.

After dazzling on his way to 14 La Liga assists last season, the 23-year-old has since followed up with a further five in 11 appearances in 2024/25.

In turn, it should not come as a major surprise to hear that, statistically, Baena has been the most creative presence in Spain’s top-flight over the last three months.

As revealed by statisticians StatMuse, with a tally of 79, the Villarreal standout has carved out more goalscoring opportunities than any other player in La Liga this season.

In fact, 2nd place comes in a full 19 chances behind, with Barcelona wide-man Raphinha having managed a total of 60 to date.
