La Liga outfit Villarreal have on Friday confirmed that Carlos Romero has committed his long-term future to the club.

This comes by way of a long-term contract extension at La Cerámica.

Left-back Romero is for his part fresh off nothing short of a superb campaign out on loan away from Villarreal, with La Liga rivals Espanyol.

Across the length of the 2025/26 term, the 24-year-old established himself as one of Spanish football’s standout performers in his role, to the tune of six goals and three assists in 36 La Liga appearances.

Such exploits did not go at all unnoticed back at Romero’s parent club, who had long made the decision to include the Spaniard in their own first-team ranks for next season and beyond.

And as alluded to above, on Friday, Villarreal and Romero have committed to one another for the long-term.

As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of the Yellow Submarine:

‘Villarreal CF has reached a contract extension agreement with Carlos Romero, who will defend the Yellow Submarine’s interests until June 2031. After two successful and fruitful loan spells at RCD Espanyol, the young Valencian defender will join the Villarreal CF first team squad for the upcoming 2026/27 season.’
