El Periódico Mediterráneo reports that Villarreal are assured the Estadio de la Cerámica will exceed 22,000 seats in 2026-27, up from the 21,332 limit applied in recent seasons for safety. The club has not specified the exact figure but expects the renovation to clear that mark.
The expansion comes amid works to align the ground with standards set by UEFA, RFEF and LaLiga. Upgrades focus on access, internal circulation, services and supporter safety.
Crucially, the increase will not affect the local allocation. Season tickets will remain around 19,500, and there will be no mass release of new passes.
Additional capacity will be directed mainly to visiting fans in LaLiga and, above all, in the Champions League. The club’s return to the top European competition requires provision for larger travelling followings.
The aim is not only to add seats but to embed them within a wider reorganisation that improves safety, access, services and the handling of away supporters’ movements. The focus is on meeting organisational needs across domestic and European fixtures.
