Villas-Boas was not present for Fofana’s customary welcome photograph, as the Porto president was abroad when the midfielder signed.

According to O Jogo, the deal was completed in the morning while André Villas-Boas was out of the country.

With the window nearing its close and several files still to be resolved, Villas-Boas has travelled to Central Europe.

Porto are in the market for a striker, and there could be further movement in the coming days.

Giménez, of Milan, remains an option, though there are alternatives.
