Vincent Harper bounces back at Walsall FC
After two seasons at Exeter City, Vincent Harper is changing direction. The Kenyan left-back has officially signed with Walsall FC, a League Two (English fourth division) club, on a two-year deal with an option for a further season.
Born in Nairobi, Vincent Harper is a versatile player, able to operate as a left-back or wing-back. At 24, he already brings solid experience from the lower tiers of English football, having previously played for Bristol City, Chippenham Town, Eastleigh, and then Exeter City, where he made 65 appearances, scored 3 goals, and delivered 3 assists over two League One campaigns. In an interview with the club's media, Harper didn't hide his excitement:
I'm very happy that everything is finally settled. I can't wait to get started. The manager's pitch convinced me. I played here at the start of last season, I loved the atmosphere and the energy, so when the opportunity came, I didn't hesitate.
For Walsall head coach Mat Sadler, this signing is a major addition:
Vincent is an explosive wing-back, very athletic, quick, and able to make a difference going forward. But he's also an excellent defender in one-on-one situations.
The manager also revealed that Harper had been on the club's radar for several weeks and was being targeted by several other League Two teams.
