Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr. has issued a public apology to the fans following his emotional reaction during El Clasico.

The Brazilian star’s behaviour after being substituted drew widespread attention and criticism, prompting him to take responsibility and address the matter directly through his social media channels.

Vinicius was visibly upset after being substituted in the 72nd minute. As Rodrygo replaced him, the 25-year-old expressed his frustration openly, gesturing and shouting as he walked off the pitch.

Rather than joining his teammates on the bench, Vinicius went straight to the dressing room, a move that sparked heated discussions among the fans and the media.

No punishment for Vinicius

Despite the noise surrounding the incident, Real Madrid have decided not to impose any punishment on Vinicius.

The club views the matter as closed and considers it an emotional reaction in the heat of competition.

It is worth remembering that this is the first major disciplinary challenge between Vinicius and Xabi Alonso since the Spaniard took charge.

The episode led to speculation about a possible rift between the player and the manager, but sources close to the dressing room insist that Los Blancos fully back Alonso’s authority and his handling of the situation.

Owing upto the matter

Vinicius has now posted his apology, acknowledging the fans’ support and expressing regret for his reaction.

“Today I want to apologise to all the Madridistas for my reaction when I was substituted in the Clasico.”

“Just as I have already done in person during today’s training, I also want to apologise again to my teammates, the club, and the president.”

“Sometimes passion gets the better of me because I always want to win and help my team. My competitive character stems from the love I feel for this club and everything it represents.”

“I promise to keep fighting every second for the good of Real Madrid, as I have done since the first day,” he said in his statement.

With this gesture, Vinicius hopes to mend his relationship with the supporters and refocus on helping Real Madrid maintain their momentum in La Liga.
