Real Madrid have extended Vinicius Jr’s contract until 30 June 2032, the club said in a statement on Thursday evening.
The 26-year-old Brazil forward had been linked with Arsenal in recent days but has now committed his future to Madrid.
His previous deal was due to run to June 2027 after 18 months of talks led to this renewal. He is also expected to receive a more favourable split of image rights, while his camp initially sought a pay rise, a loyalty bonus and improved rights to mirror Kylian Mbappé’s terms.
Signed at 18 in July 2018, Vinicius has made 375 appearances, scoring 128 goals and winning 14 trophies, including two Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles.
He scored in both of Madrid’s recent Champions League final wins, in 2022 and 2024. The club are nevertheless coming off two seasons without a major trophy.
The extension was confirmed hours after the high-profile arrival of Yan Diomandé, 19, from RB Leipzig for an estimated 140 million euros including bonuses, a move that would make the Ivory Coast international the most expensive signing in the club’s history.
