Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior is on the brink of finalising a new contract with the club, according to Spanish outlet AS.
Negotiations over a new deal have been ongoing for approximately nine months. Despite some initial delays and moments of tension, the relationship between Vinicius and Madrid remains cordial.
The renewal talks have progressed with mutual understanding, as both parties recognise the importance of securing stability ahead of the player’s current contract expiry.
There have been disagreements over financial terms, notably Vinicius’ desire for a salary closer to the top earners in the squad, such as Kylian Mbappe.
However, Madrid have structured an offer that balances the club’s wage system with the player’s ambitions.
Since arriving from Flamengo, Vinicius has become a key figure for Los Blancos, earning recognition such as FIFA’s The Best Men’s Player award and finishing as runner-up for the Ballon d’Or.
His key contributions have helped Madrid secure three La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies, including scoring in both finals.
Despite lucrative offers from Saudi Pro League clubs, Vinicius has expressed his commitment to Madrid, prioritising sporting success ahead of financial terms.
